One of the crucial components of VR applications is locomotion, which is used for moving a users viewport in the virtual environment. In this project, we created a variation of teleportation, which is a commonly used locomotion technique. Instead of moving a user instantaneously, they ’dash’ towards their targetted location. The aim with our technique is to determine if the dash, helps with motion sickness and improves immersiveness. Three different dashing speeds were tested on a user study with 8 participants. Results indicated that a realistic speed promoted a significantly higher motion sickness, than a faster unrealistic speed, and there were no significant difference in immersiveness.
