This paper details the design, implementation and evaluation of a fun and immersive locomotion technique simulating the web slinging of Spiderman. As opposed to the utility-focused locomotion techniques such as teleporting, our techniques focuses on creating a fun user experience by allowing the user to inhabit the virtual body of a web-slinging super-hero. The technique allows the user to attach webs to objects in the world and propel themselves forward in a way that makes physical sense using the momentum of the swing as well as the force added from a pull on the web. Three different pull strengths in the form of a scalar gain were tested in a user study with 6 participants. Results indicated that different gains did not have a significant effect on the feeling of presence for the users. The technique induced a good amount of general and spacial presence, but feelings of involvement and experienced realism were weaker. This, however, could be because of a noisy testing environment and quality of the assets not related to the technique.
